There was a certificate issue which broke streaming from your PLEX server when set to ‘prefer secure connections’ as detailed in the post: Plex not working on my older lg TVs .
This is also posted as an announcement after Sept 30, 2021 at: Important information about Plex for smart TVs after September 30, 2021.
So, I have purchased a ROKU box and have been using that as suggested. We purchased a second TV with ROKU built in for another room. There is occasionally an issue where the channel will only play from an earlier time when selecting the same show on one of the TV’s even though ‘play live’ is selected instead of ‘watch from the beginning’. This caused me to try all kinds of sequences to fix it, but to no avail.
This prompted me to try running PLEX on the LG-TV today ausing the native app, with little hope of expecting it to work - and I found that it’s now working again. Go figure. I can stream from a remote location. Server is set to prefer secure connections and Player is set to only use insecure on same network. My setup:
WebOS TV version 4.4.2-10
TV = OLED55C8UA
SW 05.50.10
PLEX app 5.58.3
App Name = Plex for LG, version 4.4.0
Windows Server Version 1.32.0.6918
I am now streaming from a remote server with live TV sourced by a HDhomerun Prime. No external box required at the LGTV player.
