I have been running plex through my nighthawk x10 r9000 wireless router for awhile now and today for some reason when I click on plex media server in the router and then click on open plex it opens a new page like normal and asks to log in and then when I login it says the site cannot be reached. 192.*.. refused to connect then below it says try checking the connection and second option is checking the proxy and the firewall then below that says err_connection refused. I get this same error on several computers on my network so I know it is on the router side, any help would be greatly appreciated
forgot to mention that also when I log in through the browser and install plex to computer the server name that is through the router is greyed out and cannot connect there as welll
so if nobody has any information to help with this who can I contact from plex since I cannot find anything on this and have also tried downgrading the firmware in the router which did not work either
if it refused to connect it means it is there to refuse. maybe you just need to user https rather than http
thanks for your reply but when you click on open plex it auto opens up a new windows and asks for the router login information and connects to the plex server itself after you enter the login information so I dont enter it. Also when I try to view my library on my other devices it says that that one is offline while it still shows my other one which is my server as online and that one is not through the router
this is what it says
This site can’t be reached
192.**..1 refused to connect.
Try:
Checking the connection
Checking the proxy and the firewall
ERR_CONNECTION_REFUSED
the page it auto opens goes to that address followed by :32400/web
please take a screen shot of this screen asking for PW
did you try https:// or the opposite http// before the IP ?
are you sure the server is even running on the nighthawk?
thanks for fixing my acocunt and I will attach photos
can you please try just entering http://192.168.1.1:32400/web/index.html or https://192.168.1.1:32400/web/index.html in a browser window without going through router interface button/link
they both give me the same error
I’m having the same problem with the Netgear 10 router and Netgear NAS. Seems the server just shuts down.
is app.plex.tv/desktop working? I’m sure you can get to it but does it connect to your server
The desktop app works but only shows my second backup server and not the main server on the router, that says not accessible
Realized i had not asked this but have you restarted router, OR unchecked>wait a minute>rechecked the “enabled PMS” button
Yes I tried that and I also reverted router back to an older firmware and that didnt work either
Don’t unplug if the server is running/enabled but can you please grab the server logs off the USB drive.
how do I do that and where are they located? I can access the drive over the network eaily without disconnecting it
There should be a Plex Media Server folder on the drive. there should be a Logs folder inside that. the most recent server log will be named Plex Media Server.log ones with numbers at the end are older
