I know that the problem is strange but since 2 days the samsung plex app is not working properly.
The video doesn’t start and when it’s starting are unwatchable. Buffer every second. After some test i realize that the problem occurs only when the tv is connected through ethernet cable. If i connect with wifi everything work fine. I’ve tested other app like youtube, amazon ecc with cable connection and everything work fine. Just the Plex app. I’ve tried to reinstall the app and nothing changed.
Maybe the problem is related to the last samsung firmware update that i’ve made 2 days ago. The tv is a Q85R and the firmware is 1352.
That is trully ODD - as I have a SAMSUNG (same model 65") and it is fully updated as well. I have mine connected to ETHERNET, and granted I just installed PLEX server last night - I had 112 movies on there from an old XBMC installation. After PLEX indexed everything, I started the PLEX APP on both my SAMSUNG and even my FIRE STICK 4k (on the same TV) - and I was watching a movie like nobody’s business.
Maybe try another cable? It is truly odd that Netflix and others work, but PLEX does not - I know of no settings (but still learning PLEX) that would force you to use WiFi. Is the ETH connected to some sort of router - maybe there is some NAT (Network Address Translation) in place for it port or QoS (Quality of Service). Might want to check those.
I know my ORBI can throttle things and cause problems.
I’m a plex user from many years and since last day everything work fine. I’ve already tried to update and reinstall the server. I’ve changed the cable and the port. But i don’t think the problem is the cable although amazon and YouTube will not work. I’ve just retried to watch a 4k video on amazon and everything works. As soon as i’ve switched to Plex it’s buffering or it won’t start. Switched back to wifi everything works
