Plex + Nvidia Shield TV Pro (2019) = no 5.1 audio?

Afternoon all,

Happy new year!

After a little help…

My set up;

Nvidia Shield -> TV -> AV Receiver

Plex settings = HDMI passthrough enabled.
Shield settings = Dolby audio processing enabled and have manually selected all the audio formats.

Plex and/or the Shield itself is still downmixing 5.1 audio to stereo.

The Plex app and 5.1 audio work absolutely fine through the Xbox One (Xbox One -> TV -> AV Receiver)

Any ideas?

You should run the Shield to the AV receiver then to the TV. Most TV’s don’t support all the audio formats or allow passthrough. If you are using the fiber optic cable between the TV and receiver, it typically only supports 5.1. By connecting the Shield to the receiver the receiver will pull the audio off directly.
