I’m looking at buying a LG OLED TV (2020 model; 65" CX) when they hit the streeet, and I’m curious if there’s a technical way to play back ripped UHD Blu-ray with full DV and Atmos (via eARC) with the Plex app? I have the full DVDFab suite.
there have been NO confirmed TV’s/receiver/soundbar combinations that work with plex + earc + hd audio.
I thought earc would save us from separate devices, but it looks like earc will only work with HDMI inputs (not software/apps).
Unless/until you or someone can prove otherwise, the only solution for HD audio remains nvidia shield + atmos/4k receiver.
Doing the Shield is an option for me…if that’s the only solution. Does the Shield Pro support full DV+Atmos playback of rips (from DVDFab?) via the Plex app?
I do not have the new shield, or a DV tv.
I would recommend searching forum for shield + dolby vision, but last I remember reading is that only single layer DV content works thus far.
4k blurays are dual layer.
I don’t know if dvdfab can combine dual layer DV into single layer or other software is needed, and this isn’t really the best forum for that anyway (try makemkv/dvdfab/videohelp forums).
Thanks! Will do.
