Hi all. I don’t understand what is going on with the development of this app.
Everyone is reporting the same CRITICAL issue since 2 years : the wrong audio track selection.
Every time, before I watch a movie, I have to try every track to know which one will play my language.
Why are we getting things like UNO and other things that no one care, when a issue that big is not patched in 2 years ?
Can we, at least, have a word from a Plex team member, to know if devs aknowledge the issue ?
At least, if the app was outdated, it could be understandable, but the app is receiving update every month. How an issue that critical is not in the top priority development ??
My setup is as follows:
TV: LG OLEG 65C9PTA
Speaker: LG SL9YG connected by a HDMI premium certified 2.0 cable with Ethernet.
Plex app: after install dated 07/09/2016.
Dolby 5.1 content: Plays good
DTS MA and DTS:X : Plays good no problem
Dolby atmos 7.1 content: No center channel and some 7.1 videos transcode audio.
IF I play the same setup with XPLAY no problems. I have a lot of 7.1 content and dont want to use XPLAY.
I tried installing EMBY: direct play works.
I am invested heavily on Plex and would prefer to stay with Plex media player app in LG TV.
Can anyone help?
@anon18523487 First, thanx a lot for answering me.
I’m going to give you the most possible information I can.
My TV is an LG OLED B8.
Here are the things I did just before getting the logs. Only take into consideration the last 2 movies I played (Avengers 2012 and Iron Man)
1a) Avengers English AC3 --> French DTS-HD HRA playing on the TV.
1b) Switched to English DTS-HD MA --> English True-HD/AC3 playing (can’t tell the difference between the two as ARC downgrade True-HD to DD
1c) Switched to French DTS-HD HRA --> French AC3/AC3 (one is truefrench, other one is canadian, didn’t take the time to check what it was)
1d) Switched to English AC3 --> French DTS-HD HRA (same as 1a), only a test to check if it was correct)
2a) Iron-Man French EAC3 --> French DTS-HD MA playing on the TV
2b) Switched to French DTS-HD MA --> French EAC3
Note that I was monitoring the server with my phone and it displayed the track I was trying to play, not the one it was really playing.
And that all of these files play perfectly on PMP/Plex for Windows and Android App.
I couldn’t find anything in the log. The file is being direct played so the decision of what track to use is internal to the player and not shown. I tried to reproduce with a few files I have and I couldn’t reproduce. I’m still trying.
i have exact issue also. I’m joining the thread.
Server Version#:1.16.5.1554-1e5ff713d
Player Version#:4.5.1 Plex for LG (LG (webOS 05.30.01))
TV default language and region: Russian
Result: need to switch every audio track in multi-language movie to find russian one. Some times i’m unable to find russian
Hi ! Does anyone know how to fully uninstall an app on WebOS. I still have this problem, and I wanted to reinstall Plex to see if maybe it was the solution. But whatever I do, even fully reboot the TV after uninstall it, I’m still logged in when I reinstall it. It proves there is some files who stay there, maybe in the cache, I don’t know.
Does anyone got more info on this ?
FYI, I have a TV serie episode with both french and english audio, and, even with only 2 audio tracks, they are swapped on WebOS.
@anon18523487 Do you want me to upload the file for you, so you can test it locally ? It’s a small 2.3GB file so it’s not that hard to upload for me.
