I was going to purchase a Roku 3 box for my TV in my backroom as its not a Smart TV so I could get access to my plex server but when looking for a Roku 3 box I came across some NowTV Smart box 2 (which I understand are re-branded Roku boxes) showing to have plex installed and still have the NowTV software left alone.
Are the NowTV Smart box 2 the same spec as a Roku 3 box?
I’ve just not seen these “plex enabled” boxes before and don’t see a section for them on the forum.
The plex app for NowTV is very old now. Plex will not release the new app for sideloading and Sky (who own NowTV) won’t allow Plex on their app store for proper installation.

I just went to the Github page for the NowTV app and the latest release 3.19 was released 4 days ago?
@MikeG6.5 said: NOW shows that this requires the Plex app to be sideloaded. If you aren’t familiar with this process it might be beyond your capabilities.
So, if you want a completely problem free install, get the Roku. The app is in the Roku store and just loads and runs. Bullet proof.
They latest classic update included changes to help fix a few firmware issues. The channel is still the old version of the client, almost two years old now. We do not recommend or officially support the nowTV model.
