Plex on roku only loads 33%

Crashes, Glitches, and just a pain in the ■■■■. Now nothing in my library will load. 33% and the spinning wheel of death. I’ve read hundreds of posts. Nothing works. Wireless router to Roku. Grrrrr. Help!

I am having the same issues. Posted it on the Roku forums also:

I deleted the Codecs with no success. They play just fine in the Web Player but hang like crazy on the Roku.

Here is the body of that post, so people dont have to click the link:

I am also having this issue with a roku 4k hdr streaming stick+ and a TCL Roku TV.

If the movie is transcoding AC3, it will start fine and play until it hits the server specified transcode duration (450s in my case) and then it hangs on the buffer animation at 33%. Waiting a long time only results in the error:

Playback Error: Your connection to the server was not fast enough to play this video. Check your network or try a lower quality.

NOTE: The video was direct streaming, and only the audio was trancoding.
The same video plays and transcodes in the Plex Web Player (Firefox) without issue.

Distance from the Ubiquiti U6-Lite is about 2 feet, as they are on the same desk.>

Also, the Plex authentication within the Roku app seems to log out quite frequently.
This seems to be related, but I am not sure why.

I had this similar error a couple years ago, since EAC on Roku force plex to transcode audio I just configure plex to transcode on a 64GB SD card and not on the hard drive (I had a slow hard drive by the time).
Just this silly change solved my problems with transcoding audio.

In my case, I have the official plex docker transcoding to a dedicated SSD. Just tested the Write and Read speed and they are fine.

It does seem like the movie crashes at 33% when the second cycle of transcoding needs to happen. I can provide logs but dont want to provide them to the world, rather to Plex support alone.

I am starting to wonder if this is related to the LetsEncrypt root certificate expiration.

See:

I will need to research how to pull the plex logs from the roku stick next.

Playing the same file on a different roku does not trigger the AAC transcoding bug.
I am burnt out on testing but it looks like Roku OS v11 will be dropping soon, so perhaps that will change things.

Have you found a solution? I just started having the issue and am already super aggrivated.
