Bought a new LG TV 55UQ7550 since our Samsung NU8000 broke down. Guess what, still freaking laggy UI to navigate and browse the library. Even thou using preferred insecure connection settings made it a little better it is still constantly making constant slowdown and lags when browsing the library. It takes like 3 to 5 secs before it responds or load the UI and information correctly. Right now Plex is best to just play whatever is on the homepage. Either just watch new stuff or continue whatever is on the homepage to avoid being annoyed by laggy UI if browsing what to watch in the library.
My Plex on LG TV is just for new stuff to play on the homepage. I always try to remember that every time I launch the Plex. When deviate to browsing my library going deeper to watch something else, it always feels like throwing my remote control on our TV for being sluggish and unresponsive. The moment it does Iām just trying to keep it together not bursting out to ruin my day and instantly hit and hold EXIT key immediately. Then opens Netflix⦠ahh so calm, breezy and smooth in here back to relaxing moodā¦
PS: to add to the injury newest annoying bug also transcode error every time episodes/movie end with subs. Plex couldnāt be more any worst than already was.
But that isnāt the answer! If Plex supports LG and Samsung TVās (within a certain age range) and weāre paying for the app, then it needs to improve and at the very least RESPOND to our queries. Please Plex @sLumpy give us an update.
Communication with customers is what makes a company successful.
Just buying an external box isnt the answer im afraid
Plex need to get there apps better optimised for the likes of LG and Samsung or allow beta testing and let advance users test it out to help plex get things rollings quicker
Apps like disney+ or netflix for example run nicely and have a quick responsive feel⦠so there is no excuse that the plex app cant do the same on webos or tizen⦠if they can do it then so can plex
Older versions of plex worked great even on my older nu8000 in the bedroom but the newer updates and bloat has made the app so slow it is ridiculous⦠but load up disney+ and its all smooth sailing
Even emby is more optimised and has a quicker interface⦠they have managed to do it and make it better so why cant plex
Just make a new app plex if the code is such a mess instead of adding to it and making it worse⦠or make a lite version where it allows us to access our libraries of content without all the bloat rubbish
There is plenty of us here who would help test it out
Today Iāve read that PLEX is making some changes within the company and letting some people go. Because of disappointing company performance (you can google it).
With these company changes | dont expect there will be any updates soon
There will be more info in the future in terms of whatās happening and what you can expect within the company, but I can say for now that Iāll actually be getting more time to tackle issues like this soon, as my focus will be sliding more towards quality instead of new features.
I hope the companyās reshuffle will work out for Plex and I wish the colleagues asked to leave will find other jobs soon or already found them.
As for the Smart TV menu lag issue, might I make an economic suggestion? ā do a crowdfunding campaign to solve this bug and pay for the dedicated hours, days, weeks needed to find the root cause of this issue and fix it.
I realise that many others in this forum might say that they already paid for Plex, I am also a lifetime Plex Pass user. But, if the company isnāt making enough revenue, then why not pool in some cash dedicated to this issue.
Instead of buying a separate device, I just want to use my TVās own system. I actually do have a Chromecast 4K and it works perfect (no lags), but I just bought it for testing. I donāt want to use and external device for daily usage.
Just to give you (or your bosses?) some ballpark figure. I would be willing to chip in EUR/USD 50 ⦠if thereās a high confidence this gets the issue solved. With ~16 million users you could tap into quite a bit of cash.
Of course, asking money to fix bugs you can only do so many times before people are gonna say ānoā. However, perhaps with feature requests you could do something similar. Iām not sure how this would pan out in the long run, thatās up to your company to decide. But for now I just want to make the suggestion (and also make it clear how badly I want to have this fixed): just ask me to pay for the fix!
Bump. Any updates? Dont want this issue to be closed from inactivity. My tv has become useless. I am using my pc to use plex and its buttery smooth. Too bad i dont have a remote lol
