Plex on Samsung and LG Smart TV become slow and lagging interface

Did you use subtitles? Would you mind to check the size when you select “small”?

‘Small’ appears to be the same size as ‘normal’

That’s the problem…

I have the same problem. The new version made Plex extremely slow and laggy on my 2019 Samsung TV.

Please roll this version back!

Same issue here. 2019 LG TV.
Switching to classic and turning off background colors didn’t help. What i have noticed is that the player interface is fast and responsive, but when i go back to the main menu it gets really slow.

Sometimes if i stay long enough moving through the menu, the app will get progresively slower and then crash with the message. “This app will restart to free up memory”.

Cheers,

I have the same experience as everybody else, the app interface is really sluggish while navigating through it. Shifting screens/menus can take upto 10 seconds (it’s slower if you enter TV-show with many seasons).

Once the movie/show starts it works fine but to get there is a pain (now I miss Kodi).

Have to Samsung the Frame, one 2018 and one 2020.

Apparently there is a PMS update. I don’t directly see a fix for SMART TV’s but it does say something about subtitles.

I’ll test this update later today. Hope this fixes all problems.

UPD: Installed the new PMS update and also deleted the tv app and unplegged the tv for 3 hours. Reinstalled everything. No change. Still laggy/slow and subtitles are still BIG.

More than a month and none of these issues was fixed…

Is there anybody paying attention to this forum?

We definitely need a properly Bug Tracking System for Plex.

Just adding myself to the list. I’ve been experiencing the same slowness since the new UI was introduced. Setting the UI back to classic didn’t help. Also tried removing animations and disabling backgrounds.

Samsung UN75NU8000
Client version: 5.28.2
Platform version: 4
PMS: 1.25.0.5246

I believe the devs have been fixing similar issues with Samsung TVs. Maybe they will move onto LG now?

It would be nice to find out somehow…

My TV is Samsung, and I didn’t see any improvements recently… Just this annoying subtitle font size bug

Still not fixed until now. Sigh. My Plex is a ghost town that even my family doesn’t even touch it anymore than used to.

Anyone tested the new PMS update: 1.25.1.5286 ??
I won’t be able to test this this week. If anyone has some info please share.
I’ll try this update this weekend.

I’m not sure if this is related but on an otherwise solid setup I am having some weird issues with my LG 42LN570V.
First, I was getting the “Plex is unreachable” error without any ability to log in or even save manual server settings.
On other TV’s and browser, all is well. So I decided to uninstall and reinstall on the TV.
It didn’t work, I was asked to relink, it couldn’t generate a code and I got a BUDAPEST error.
I read this forum, went back and simply tried again with no changes and accessed PLEX just fine, The home screen showed and everything.
I literally switched it off and back on again to check and I was back to the orginal symptoms of Plex being unreachable.
This is still the case so I guess I will just wait until this irons itself out. The BUDAPEST error was intriguing though, the last reference I saw to that was a backend issue being worked on.

Not showing as an update for me yet. Stuck on checking for updates.

The newest update for LG (version 5.29.1) has fixed many performance issues. Still some hiccups here and there, but far from as jerky and laggy as it has been the last month or so.

I haven’t disabled anything, and I have an LG from 2016.

What webos version are you on please?

3.4.0

LG (version 5.29.1)
WebOS 3.9.0

Just tested everything.
With all layout functions off it seems a little bit better than before.
However, it is still very BAD compared to how it used to be before the LAYOUT update.

If I turn on the modern Layout is is still very bad.
In addition the subtitle problems has not yet been resolved with this update.

Could anyone else please test?

Version 5.29.1 on Samsung (Tizen, 2019): No improvement. It is still very sluggish.

Can we just have the old version back, please?!
