Plex on Samsung and LG Smart TV become slow and lagging interface

Nice one. Thanks for the update.

Did anyone notice that the new PC plex app 1.44.0.2981-e2d72ac2 is almost having the same lag/slow problem as the tv app?

Yes. My HTPC has become horribly slow these last updates.

That may help the developers work out what the issue is.

Hello, any update on this? I’m too considering swithcing to Emby as the webos app on my tv is almost unusable…

thanks

When can we expect this migrating process to be completed? As things right now I see features missing or not working as expected like the countdown timer to the next episode, it’s not showing anymore. And among other things but I assume has to do with the migration process?

There is a new update. According to the info it should improve speed/performance by 30%?

Has anyone tested this?
(Sorry for the misunderstanding: It was a notification for the Plex PMS. I thought it may be related).

Info: Updated it and tested. No changes inspeed or usage experience.

Where have you seen that? No mention of it here: Plex for webOS 3.0+ (LG Televisions) - #68 by markus101

@Hxu

You need an app update not a server update.

The changelog specifically said ā€œMigrations are now over 35% faster in some cases.ā€.

Database migrations are not at all related to this issue.

Samsung QLED here, Plex has stopped working. A similarly times update now crashes Plex on Android whenever I want to perform a search. Anyone have a decent alternative for Plex?

Well at least the new logo animation is speedy!

on my LG tv I get two different splash screens with the old logo before the new logo splash screen… I’d rather they skip it completely

Does anyone have the same problem? Plex lg app has become slower than usual.

It really takes seconds before it response.

Again i’m truly considering abandoning this and switch to the shield.

Any news admin?

Indeed. Waiting on the app performance improvements still.

Any update on this?

It’s been months since the issue was acknowledged and further months since it was advised infrastructure changes had been completed to overcome this issue.

Zero communication since.

The level of Plex official communication is just so poor across the board.

Are the changes which have been made back at the start of April going to see the light of day?
Have they been forgotten and we just have the accept the slow / laggy interface?
Should we be assuming something different?

All it takes is an single line posted every couple of weeks along the line of ā€˜Update: We’re still actively working on this, no ETA at present.’

I’ve been checking the WebOS posted updates every few weeks here: Plex for webOS 3.0+ (LG Televisions) - Announcements - Plex Forum

and I’ve seen updates go by but nothing related to our issue at hand

At least let us have the old app back. I already enabled developer mode on my Samsung so I should be able to install apps from outside the store, any chance of providing us with the old version file?

On my LG C7 I noticed a substantial improvement with the new App Update with smooth animations on and off.

Hmm… oke maybe i should completely reinstall it. Thx for the info.
