When I use a Roku to connect to the same server I get the Netflix style preview thumbnails when rewinding. Why can’t the shield tv client get the same thing? There was another post a year ago asking the same thing and nothing appears to have changed

This would be a nice addition to the Android TV application for sure. I also have a Roku and enjoy the thumbnails when rewinding/fastforwarding.

Well it does for me, tested this morning on a Shield with beta.
Edit: I have to say that I like the performance of the current plex app on the Shield, I even consider making it my daily driver again. Good job.

I agree though. VPT on the Shield has changed everything for me. They match the experience on the ATV 4K… so the ATV 4K went on eBay.

The total skipping behavior is currently superior to emby, at least for my remote setup. Really like it. Playing also starts more swiftly in the beginning. I am glad that I kept both running side by side.
Exactly. I shut down my local server a while ago.
The timeline with VP thumbs even with remote 4K remuxes is just so silky smooth. Skip to any point and playback resumes in around a second.
I still don’t love the pre-play screen…but that’s just nit-picking.
