Plex on Smart TV Has Empty Home Screen - Just Happened

Server Version#:1.43.0.10492-121068a07
Player Version TV#:5.94.1
Player Version NAS#:4.156.0 Asustor AS-604T

I went to watch a film on my NAS using Plex installed on my LG TV. It was working fine last night, but this evening, all I get is a message stating ‘Your home screen is currently empty’. There are none of my created libraries down the left sidebar. Plex is running on the NAS and I can access it via the webapp on Windows 11, and the sidebar does have my created libraries in the sidebar. I have always logged into on both the NAS and TV with the same username.

On the TV, I tried signing out of the app, and then back again, linking it to my account, but I still get the same message. I’ve tried going into the More settings on the left sidebar and then selecting Plex, but I’m not getting any options to add libraries to it. I’ve gone through every single menu option and I can’t find anything helpful.

Nothing has changed on my hardware setup since the last Plex update, which was several weeks ago. The TV is connected directly to my router, as is the NAS unit, and I have no issues watching YouTube on the TV, so the issue isn’t there.

I thought that in the meantime I could connect my laptop up to the TV using a HDMI cable and watch a movie that way, so decided to see if it would work. Just tried it on the laptop itself, and it works on the H264 1080p movies I have, but things like TV series which are HEVC Main 10 give me a playback issue with ‘Conversion failed. A required codec could not be found or failed to install’.

I’ve also tried stopping and restarting the app on the NAS, to no avail. After posting this, I’m also going to shut down and restart the NAS itself, as I’ve run out of options I can try.

Not related to the Smart TV app issue, but regarding this workaround: Are you using the Plex App for your computer’s operating system? It sounds like maybe you’re using a browser to play back on your laptop, and causing unnecessary transcoding.

Thanks for the very prompt response, but shutting down Plex, and then powering off the NAS has resolved the issue. Just restarted it again, accessed it from the TV, and there under the More settings was my NAS listed, and my created libraries. Not sure what happened to the NAS since last night, but thankfully it’s working again.
