Plex on Sony Bravia only plays audio but no video for mkv files

I added some mkv files that play normally through the Plex web interface on my Mac, but when I try to play those same files from my Sony Bravia, only the audio plays without video. I uninstalled the app from my TV and reinstalled it but that hasn’t helped. I’ve been connecting my laptop to my TV to watch it that way as a workaround, but that defeats the purpose of having the Plex app on TV. I’m not sure what else to try. I have the logs downloaded, but I’m not sure how to best share them.

Without more information my best guess is that the TV doesn’t support the given codex, but plex thinks it does.

That’s what I’m wondering, too. The TV is from 2017, so maybe it’s older by TV standards? The model is XBR-49X800E.
