Hello,
When I stream Tidal on Plex WEB I am not having any problems but on the Synology NAS can’t get it to work. After pressing “play”, this message is coming up:
"Playback Error
An error occurred trying to play this item. Please make sure content from TIDAL is not already playing on another device.
Error code: h4 (Not Supported)"
Could someone help me with that one please? Just for clarification: I am definitely not having Tidal open on other devices.
Keep in mind that the hosted version of the web app is always up-to-date while the one bundled with your server will depend on the version of PMS installed on the Syno and therefore always be a few versions behind.
So it could be s simple as a temporary issue on an older version of Plex Web that has already been fixed in the hosted version.
There’s usually little/no reason to use the bundled version unless you’re setting up the server / doing troubleshooting (e.g. in case of connectivity issues).
You mentioned there is no reason to use bundled version. How would you use Plex on Synology NAS then?
Thanks
P.S. Another question is if streaming Tidal directly on NAS to the local USB port as I am doing now with the Audio Station is possible at all? I don’t want to play music on any 3rd party devices just NAS itself.
You cannot use the local web app to stream any material which has DRM enabled.
Which applies to both TIDAL music and the ad-supported on-demand movies and live TV offerings from plex.tv.
The reason for that is that your local Plex server cannot use https (i.e. an encrypted connection) to load the web app into your browser. Which then causes the DRM module to not “trust” the web app and thus refusing playback of the DRM-protected media.
There is no reason not to use https://app.plex.tv as your default choice for all things Plex.
That’s a little disappointing. I was hoping to stream Tidal to my audio system straight from the NAS, without using TV, PC, or Android devices - especially if you have Tidal native streaming apps for all of these platforms. Hopefully, in the future, Synology, Qnap, etc. will include Tidal streaming into their own audio stations - why would we waste electrical energy for additional devices just for playing Tidal content
I’m not sure what you mean here.
TIDAL is an online music streaming service. Your NAS has no function there.
If you want to use TIDAL, you need to use an app with internet connection. Otherwise there won’t be any music.
