Plex does not see videos placed in trailer or extras sub-folder.
Plex does not recognize poster or background images that are numbered.
This issue occurs no matter which Plex Player I use. These are not issues when running Plex Media Server on Windows. Is there a way to resolve this. I don’t want to overhaul my entire library to migrate to Plex on Synology.
This file structure and naming convention is what i’ve always used and it’s worked not problem with Plex Media Server for Windows. Art named according to plex naming conventions only displays the first image and excludes numbered images.
Regarding the local extras:
That’s definitely not in line with the official naming schema (and should also not be working if you setup a new library using the current generation Plex agents). Did you possibly use some custom third party agents on that old setup?
Regarding the local media assets:
I sometimes have/find multiple versions of a poster.
Those always show up in Plex as options to pick. The only difference I notice is that I don’t use -1 as starting index but -2 (the original / non-indexed file is “#1”).
FWIW, the structure below works with Plex Media Server on my Synology, Ubuntu, & Windows servers.
Plex provides no cover art for The Dirty Dozen due to a DMCA takedown request (there is no poster for the movie at watch.plex.tv).
If I edit the movie, I can pick either poster. The selected poster is then displayed by the clients.
