I recently just found out about plex for Vizio. It offers to connect to your Plex account via code, but then it states that you need a Plex Pass to use the app. Does anyone know when Plex will be offered to Vizio owners for free? I don't want to purchase the pass and find out that it's going to be free next week.
I have vizio p series and while plex works but transcodes everything, never direct play or stream. This results in my server maxing out and stops for buffering. I had to buy roku. Hopefully this will be fixed soon.

Amazon Prime and Netfilx apps work great on the tv but Plex doesn't seem to work. An error screen pops up when I click on Plex which informs me that: "An unexpected network response was received(0/empty)". I have no clue what that means or what to do about it. Plex, by the way, works fine on my Roku, but then so does my free Media Browser. I need my Roku installed on another tv because it's not a smart tv. I would very much appreciate any help with this.

Same here. I just updated my server to the latest and purchased my tv two days ago. The TV is running plex 1.0.1. Also, my router is netgear wndr3700 running dd-wrt, connect via wifi 2.4ghz wpa2 personal w/AES encryption.

I've been using Plex on my Vizio P60 for the last month. I tried it today and am getting a error.
Details: An unexpected network response was received (0/empty). (see attached) Also, I am not able to select "Reset App"

That is a great idea BigWheel, but there is not a forum for the Visio app (that I can find anyway.)
I am getting the same error. It was working fine for a few days after I bought the TV. Nothing has changed in my configuration and now suddenly it won’t connect to the server.

I put a link to the Smart TV forum in my previous post. Click it and you will see FAQ and other posts about the app there. The developers of that app check those forums most for issues with it.

The Vizio app is in Preview Beta for Plex Pass subscribers only at the moment. the forum is in a Plex Pass only area of forums which is why you cannot see it. When it is out of preview the forum will be moved to the area all users can see it. If you have general questions about I suggest posting in the General Chat section until the forum is available to you

It definitely will. We're waiting for a Vizio firmware upgrade and some enhancements to Plex Media Server. Both are close but no exact timeline yet. Be sure to watch the Release Announcements section!

I am also having the same issue. Im using a D series Vizio. Streaming a movie over the app, I can usually get about 2 minutes in before the movie freezes. It will stay frozen, and will not buffer from there. I have to click back on the app, and press the resume button to get it to start again, and then I can watch about another 2 minutes before doing it again. Hope this will be fixed soon, as currently the app is unusable.
wondering if anyone has been able to get the plex app to work with a Vizio P Series (exact model VIP602UIB3) tv.
I have not been able to access my plex server from my vizio tv since downloading the app (about a month). Every time I launch the app, it takes me to the error screen stating that my plex server is unavailabe to either "Go Back" or "Sign Out"
if i "go back" i am returned right to the same screen
if i "sign out" i am returned to the PIN screen where if i re enter the PIN in plex.tv/pin (after signing in) i am returned back to the same error page.
I have done the following to troubleshooting and still have no idea why its not working.
-restarted server
-updated the server software to the latest version 9.11.7
-verified network connectivity from both plex server and tv
-have re entered and re entered and re entered the PIN
-verified the plex server is signed in
-verified i am able to access my plex server via xbox 360 (works fantastically actually)
-verified i am even able to access it from the external network from my phone.
i have been sitting idly by to see if its a bug in the plex app on the vizio tv but its been over a month and i want to be proactive about this. Especially if i am paying money for my plex pass.
Also i know i could just use my xbox but i would rather have a "one pane of glass" setup for my media.
if anyone has any suggestions please let me know

I can't seem to get consistent results from my Plex app on my Vizio TV. I've gone so far as to reinstall Plex Server running on my Desktop, changing the default transcoder temp directory, increasing transcoding speed, lowering/raising streaming quality and testing on other hardware (Roku and laptops). When I connect over a browser on my laptop over wifi, no issues. This leads me to believe the issue is not network related. Also, my Plex Server is running on an SSD drive so I don't believe there would be any performance issues there either. I consistently see the "Buffering" error within the Vizio within 30 minutes, after that it will crop up every 15-20 mins. Because the Roku streaming stick appears to perform better and also viewing through a browser on my MBP also works well I'm lead to believe the issue is with the Plex app itself.
This was a real disappointment considering my purchase decision to go with Vizio was heavily influenced by the Plex app. Does anyone know what the timeline is for an update to the Plex app for Vizio.

I also have this issue. I'm hard wired with a gigabit network and the server is on a haswell i7 machine with not much else running. It's a glitch in the Vizio Plex app. I just saw that today there was an update but I don't know how to look for update notes. I'm hoping it fixed the playback issue.
