I’ve got a Qnap NAS and are running a Plex media server.
Been using it for many years on my LG tv with WeboOS.
But some time ago the TV stopped finding the server. This has happened one before. The first time I just updated the media server and it worked again. But I’ve updated the server a couple of times now and it still does not work om webOS but it works everywhere else.
Does anyone have any idea why?

What model LG is it?
does it fall into this list ? (not exhaustive) – Is it still getting Software updates ?
My tv has WebOS 05.40.09.
I did this On the TV app*, ensure that `Settings → Advanced → Allow Insecure Connections and it worked.
Guess my tvs getting “older”. (65OLEDE8) so it’s a 3 year old premium TV.

The WebOS app won’t continue to function.
While I have a new C1 OLED, I still have a HDMI player to plug in.
I have Nvidia Shield 2019 Pro, Amazon FireTV MAX (brand new one), AppleTV 4K (2017).
I’m covered for a while with the Nvidia.
The FireTV was an experiment in case it helps others. ($35 USD)
It’s “Plain Jane” but it does work solid and will handle DV + 400+ Mbps on WiFi 6
Okay, so you think I some day in not a far future Will need a plug in smart hub to watch plex on my tv?
Feels weird that a high end tv doesn’t have support for more than about 3 years.
Should Google Chromecast TV work?
I have an OLDER google chromecast and am not happy with it
I have a Roku 3 – OK for 1080p but not 2160p / HDR
I have the Nvidia Shield Pro 2019 – SOLID for everything (DV occasionally does not detect but 99.99% perfect). Everything else PERFECT.
My AppleTV 4K (2017) is getting old. Apple firmware limits what it can do. The app tries to compensate and does “kinda ok”. Great for 1080p / HDR but not longer term into DV. Limited audio to AVR due to Apple limits.
Now I have this new “toy” I’m experimenting with.
I bought it because people said FireTV was broken and I wanted to investigate.
I found this little thing, saw the price, could not resist trying it.
For the price, knowing PMS has to help it (it’s not a “thick” player like the Shield Pro), it is solid.
With properly curated media (meaning all those nasty subtitles) and a decent WIFI 5 or 6, It will work. (unless they really bork it all up)
Give me another week to finish my evaluation. So far, it looks good.
The reason the app on smart tv still should work is to not go out and buy devices to use plex. this is so stupid. plex should work on any devices. I have an LG 49UK6300 and it has webos 4.4.0 and plex works fine, but my brothers lg tv thats 2 years older worked with the unsecure settings until 3 days ago when he tryed to connect to my plex server with hes account. now it just say “plex is not reachable” and no matter what we try we cant even log in or anything on hes tv.
If you really need to buy nvidia shield for $230 where i live or any other device to use plex. then why even use plex. then use physical media. Plex is easy to use and have as mediaserver, but if this goes further on, i may need to find other solutions to share family photos and vids with family. cause we aint rich to go buy new tv or devices to make sure plex can run.
