I clicked on WD to get 20% discount.
Went and added 4 hard drives to update my FreeNAS box… running Plex on it…
£599 still £599
Read the fine print. Excluded internal hard drive
SUCKS BALLS! Wasted 5 minutes of my life… 4 flux steaks guys… please dont make plex pass into this bullshit advertising thing… your better than that.
facepalm
It shouldn’t be called “Plex Pass Perks” but instead what it actually is “Plex Pass User Information Sold To The Highest bidder For The Purpose Of Targeted Marketing” but that isn’t as catchy sounding.

Internal drives aren’t included, I guess it makes it pointless for most of us, but that’s probably why it’s offered at all, they lose less money!
“Not valid on internal drives and recertified products.”
If you click on the HD Homerun link, the code expires April 22nd, but the site says they are OUT OF STOCK of the PRIME model (most popular model), and expect to get them back in stock MAY 1. Kind of lame to provide a discount code for a product you can’t even order until after it expires…

Seems like a complaint that should be directed to WD, not Plex.
I guess it is sort of good that there is something but I never (or nearly never) order directly from a manufacturer. You can almost always get a better deal through Amazon or some other online retail outfit and it is easier to return or exchange items. Also when you shop online you can compare various brands and, maybe, get what you need for a LOT less.
Now if Plex gave out Amazon gift cards then that would have real value for me.
This kind of “perk” is about the same as junk mail for me.

Guys these are manufacturer offers. We do not control what they offer. If you do not want the offers you do not have to use them.
Dude… do you even care that this advertiser has a negative effect on your plex pass users? Seems like you just dont give a rats ass… If you gonna spam me with “perks” make them “perks” not waste of time. I didnt pay plex pass so you can all of a sudden spam me with ■■■■. I paid for it because I believe in the greatness of plex - so stick to that
Pass that on to your line manager and tell them to think about that.
The icon says store wide - that threw me off.
So if any body else want get a free coupon… you got a few hours left.
Oh you cannot buy internal hardrives and refurbished crap.
I agree with OP, first thing I did was compare the price of a drive with the same drive on Amazon…
Thanks for offering 20% however WD already offer amazon and all its customers somewhere around 30%+ on a normal sale so… We’d probably be worse off using our new “Perks” >_______________<

It doesn’t have a negative affect. Just ignore the email. It’s not hard.
I chose NOT to ingore the email.
In marketing this is called conversion.
So I actioned the email because I was ready to use the “perk” my satisfaction level with Plex at that point ws 100% satisfied.
Now I am wasting my time here becuase of crap. My satisfaction level with Plex is now 90% - So yea.
You see how selecting people who you work with actually cause problem with your own reputation. I never liked WD but if they giving me 20% I will use it.
So Plex… You can thank WD for decreasing my overall happiness with plex. All that thanks to ■■■■■■ marketing choices. Do not even go there. Do what you do best and stop messing around with this… its a ■■■■ idea.
I really don’t see why you guys are making a big deal about this. It’s just something Plex through together for us. At this time the coupons aren’t really deals but in the future they could be.
Maybe in the future Plex will check to see how good a deal some of the coupons are (compare to Amazon) and push back on the manufactures to push their pencils for better deals if needed.
With that said, kind of sounds like the marketing department was bored and needed something to do. LOL
