I have a small server that I share with only a couple family members. I have each one on their own username and only contains my server on their account.
I was looking into getting the Plex Pass Lifetime membership. If I get the Plex Pass on my account, does that share any of the features to the accounts linked to my server? (I.E. Movie previews, syncing, or access to the Plex app on like the PS4?)
Or is each account exclusive on the Plex Pass features? I have seen the Plex Home and managed accounts thing, but wasn't sure 100% on the details.
Haven't scrolled down this way in a long time, and I know your post if fairly old, but I will try and answer it.
Right now there are two (completely seperate) ways of handling multiple users. The first (older method), called simply MultiUser, is creating a free Plex ID for each member, and share the server with them. It sounds like you did this.
With MultiUser, the PlexPass holder and server admin can share the server with other (free) PlexIDs, and allow syncing. So that *does* work. Those shared accounts do not, if I remember correctly, gain any other benefits of PlexPass though, such as free apps, preview app access, etc. I do not know about movie trailers and extras.
With PlexHome, each user is "technically" logged in under the same Plex account, using their "sub account" to view media, so they would gain all the benefits of a PlexPass subscription.
The problem with PlexHome is that it is currently only available on their Plex/Web, PlexHomeTheater and Roku platforms. It is said to be coming to others "soon".
If all you want to allow is Syncing, I'd keep it the way you have it. Also, I noticed you do not have a PlexPass tag under your name. If you have a PlexPass, log into the forums on that account and you will see a PlexPass only section where you can ask more questions (and likely get a faster response).
