Opening the app and selecting photo library all works except Timeline (I’m a lifetime premium plex user).
The timeline shows some photo placeholders but never loading thumbnails.
If I try to scroll the App hangs and crash.
Library view works well.
Hi, just adding my voice that this looks like a bug to me. I to have an ios device and when trying to look at photos the app hangs when attempting to load the library. The timeline and recommended seem to work.
Any ideas?
My plex server is on a win 10 box and on my lan during this error.
Which photo section that hang the app seems to be random… sometimes is the timeline, sometimes the library…

Same here, it hangs in photos no matter which option I am able to choose. Used to work in previous iOS plex version.
Same here. I have been frustrated by this for awhile. It hangs in all views except recommended.
I am running server 1.20.1.3252, player 7.5.1, IOS 13.7. It hangs without ever presenting thumbnails. Works fine on a ROKU but hangs on either iphone 11 pro or ipad 11 pro.

Removed preview thumbnails from library settings and disabled tagging.
Now it works!
I already have preview thumbnails and tagging disabled and the bug still occurs.
For reference/linking, this is the same bug as: Bug. IOS photo timeline view freezes with most recent update reported on August 30th.
Have you tried pressing the red button to remove preview photo images? Maybe it fixes something…
Before that, my foto library was never ending refreshing
The problem may be neverending foto lib update… if I stop the update the app works, if I use the app during lib update it freezes
May also be that I’m using hard links for in my photos? Some files are replicated using hard links in different paths…

I have literary the same problem. Its been like this since plex server v19.
It is driving me mad and made me question why im even paying for plex pass account when the photo feature doesnt even work!
Any fix for this yet?

Same here, iOS 14, iPhone 11 hangs as soon as I try to scroll in timeline view. Safari / Chrome on laptop work as expected.
Infuriating as had come to rely on Plex for photo sharing with my wife and now she is getting annoyed that she can’t see her photos. This did work until some time this year but hard to pinpoint now which Plex app release broke this 
FWIW, exactly the same behaviour on an iPad Pro 12.9in, 3rd gen with the native iPadOS Plex application. Accessing the same photo timeline (same server) in Safari on that same device works without issue.
How can I help debug this issue? Do I need to get logs out of the app?

I would recommend we all write bad reviews on appstore and start spamming social networks… they are deaf to our paid subscription, it becomes very unpleasant.
Im also experiencing this problem.
Since this causes the app to freeze and removing preview thumbnails fixes it, im guessing it runs out of memory loading thumbnails.
