Not quite sure what this means or how to get around it. Message appears on some but not all movies from my web browser when I try to play certain movies. I have plenty of hard disk space free, 10 plus GB and plenty of RAM too. Additionally, it is weird that I can play same movies which error in web browser, play fine from my iPhone app. Wondering what error message means and how to address it.
The message means that the temp directory or path is smaller than the video you are trying to play. With the transcoder code that went in a while back, there’s a test to check if there is enough free space on the temp drive to transcode the whole video + some extra. 10GB isn’t a lot of space when you are trying to transcode a 20GB file. (As in less than half as much as needed to do the job.)
Some movies are going to need the size of the file + 200MB. Others may take the size of the file +100MB. (I’ve seen both happening on my own system, so it’s my own observation…)
The easiest way to address it is to free up some more space on the system drive. Like 200-300GB.
