Plex Player 1.70.2.3845-31e96af6 MacOS: UI not working anymore if used with Wacom tablets

Hi there,
I need to report that current version 1.70.2.3845-31e96af6 and also previous one 1.69.1.3755 (the one with the quit bug) did not work anymore when used with a Wacom tablet.

I mean: almost all buttons are not working when clicked with a pen tablet. Only a few works, like the user profile menu. Wacom driver is up to date.

It has to do with some event management code in the UI, clicks are somewhat different when performed via a tablet. Of course it has always worked before. Since the pen tablet is my ONLY input method on my workstation, I cannot use Plex app anymore if not connecting a mouse.

Note: web app is fine.

Please help! I know we are a small userbase so this might be passing under the radar!

I’m experiencing the same issue.
The user icon and search bar are the only UI elements that seems to be registering clicks while using a Wacom tablet.

Still not working in version 1.74.1.3913 :sob: :sob: :sob:

Can you please provide logs? Have you tried the HTPC app? Curious to know how that experience is with a pen as your only input device.

Hi there, I will try to provide logs (privately?) but I’m not sure there’s something useful there.

UI non clicking with Wacom Tablets has happened before in some kind of “chromium-based” or “electron-based” apps (sorry for being not technical) as certain versions or configurations interfered with UI elements when clicked with a pen, resulting in “no click being registered”. Check here. Debugging this without a Wacom tablet should be almost impossible…

BTW, as a matter of fact many designers don’t have anything else but the pen to interact with the device, I’ve been using a pen-only workstation for 20+ years, mouse only for casual gaming and never connected (trackpad not available as MacBoook is in closed-screen mode). Of course I’m using a pen-tablet and not a pen-display.

By the way, is there any way to download an older version of Plex Player and install it without automatic updates until issue is solved?? It was all working like 2-3 releases before

~/Library/Caches/Plex/updates will have the last couple installs stored here.

To disable automatic updates got to ~/Library/Application Support/Plex/plex.ini

  • Find the [debug] section - add one if one does not exist
  • Add disableUpdater=true directly under the [debug] header
  • Save your changes

cool tricks…but

 unfortunately the oldest cached is 1.70.2.3845 which was the first with the issue

any other archived version somewhere?

Looks like 1.67.x is the last known good build to allow Wacom devices to be used with our Mac Desktop app. I’ve filed this issue internally. Thanks for reporting.
