Would you mind sharing some more details on your setup?

  • which version of Plex Media Server and the new Mac Player do you have installed?
  • what version of macOS do you have (e.g. Mojave 10.14.6 or one of the recent betas for Catalina)?
  • anything else noteworthy like content blockers or security apps that might interfere?

I’m running the new Plex Player (v1.0.0.792) on macOS 10.14.6 with a PMS 1.16.5.1488 as backend with no visible flaws/issues.

I’m experiencing the same problem.

Currently I am running:

  • Plex Player v1.0.0.792 on macOS 10.15 Beta (19A487l)
  • PMS v1.16.4.1469 on a Mac Mini running macOS 10.14.5
  • The computer running Plex Player has 1Blocker installed for Safari

The app loads fine and displays the background and hamburger menu before going to black as in the screenshot from lonleygoneby_qq_com

Running the Plex web app in Safari works fine, though the old Plex Media Player v2.39.0.1005-1b0839a8 with UNO enabled exhibits a similar problem where it will load the home screen but immediately go to black once I click on any item in the window.
