Plex Player seems to hang upon media selection (manual play press wakes it up)

Bump!

Same issue here tcl 55c745 firmware and plex app updated to latest

C845 same issue
 Frustrating!

TCL C835 and still same problem, isn’t there any way to send a bug report?

Same tv and same issue. Plex please confirm this is going to get resolved.

same TV, same problem, just after TCL updated.

Same issue with the TCL C845

Still an issue.
It would be nice if someone from plex could advise they are working on the issue.

Plex are you aware or doing anything about it or something ?

We just purchased a TLC 43" TV (Model: 43S450G) for our kid’s bedroom yesterday. We are experiencing exactly the same thing. Everything else seems to work just fine. That said, it’s confusing and is difficult for others to know how to get shows to play because of this bug. Frankly, we wouldn’t have purchased this TV if we would have known that this issue exists.

Plex, will there be a fix any time soon or should we take this TV back? We have paid for the lifetime subscription and would like a simple response.

We have many working Samsung, Roku, and Andriod TVs that all work as expected (much older at this point). We assumed that a band new simple Google/Android TV would work just fine. If there is not a fix planned, can you a very least tell us which TVs are not compatible with PLEX so we don’t continue the purchase/return cycle.

@elan, @bernardoghazi, @romancamelia, @sixones. @marekszulik, receiving technical support is frustrating when it’s only allowed over forums. As several people in this thread has mentioned, it would be great if a PLEX representative would respond one way or the other for this concern.

Thank you.

If someone can grab the logs, I will take a look.

Steps for fetching the logs are available here; https://support.plex.tv/articles/201573117-android-android-tv-fire-tv-logs/

I thought I puts the logs in the main ticket. Let me know if you can’t see them.

TLC_PLEX_Issue_logging.txt (135.8 KB)

@sixones - Logs attached.

I attempted to play the movie Nobody. The movie got stuck and didn’t start playing. I backed out and started the network logging. (I didn’t start playing the movie manually)

Please let me know if there is anything else I can provide to help.

Thank you for your time. And Happy Thanksgiving to all of you!

Thanks for the logs, does the issue only happen for you when you try to play something that transcodes? If you play something that direct plays, maybe with DTS audio, does it playback successfully?

The logs in the original post, only contain the FFmpeg information rather than the full set of logs needed to see how playback starts, and where it gets stuck.

Would you be able to give this build a try, and grab the logs after trying to playback something, it might not solve the issue but it will hopefully highlight more for us to investigate.

Here’s my log with this build:
log_plex_armv7.txt (33.0 KB)

I noted the moment when it stopped while a video was launched, and I played it again a few minutes later.

@sixones I’ve attached the logs of the version provided:
TCL_PLEX_Issue_logging_10_5_0_4882.txt (136.7 KB)

I attempted the same process as last time. I started the movie Nobody around 18:29 tonight. I let it sit there for about 3 minutes while it appeared to “buffer”, then backed out and started the logging mode. (I did not manually start playing the movie)

I’ve tested DirectPlay and Transcoding media, all perform in the same manner.

Please let me know if there is anything else I can help with.

Thank you again for helping us resolve this issue.

Apologies looks like I shared the wrong build so the information I’m looking for was missing. Heres the right build:

Here’s my log with the new build:
TCL_PLEX_log_10.6.0.4909.txt (31.2 KB)

Same here. If you need anything else, feel free to ask for help.
Thanks

@sixones
 logs attached:

TCL_PLEX_Issue_logging_10_6_0_4909_TEST_2.txt (316.0 KB)
TCL_PLEX_Issue_logging_10_6_0_4909.txt (151.5 KB)

Here are two sets of logs.
The “TCL_PLEX_Issue_logging_10_6_0_4909.txt” was my first attempt to play Nobody again after the Plex update. It actually started playing as expected
no manual intervention was needed. I let it play for a couple of minutes, started logging and captured the file.

After the above, I went back and attempted to play it again, and it didn’t automatically played and acted like it has been. I also attempted to play Top Gun Maverick and a Simpson’s episode. All showed the “buffering” and didn’t start on their own. I captured that in the “Test_2” logs.

Please let me know what else I can do to help.
