It seems to be the device is playing the content, everything including ExoPlayer thinks it’s playing the content back, and yet it doesn’t seem to be. The build above add’s some extra force resumes to see if we can get the device to start properly.
Hi, I have a TCL 55Q750G and I am also experiencing this issue; we just purchased this TV over the weekend after returning another for this same issue, initially thinking it was a brand issue.
My personal movie library will not play, the screen shows it’s buffering but the play progress bar shows the video loading. I can play recorded TV but I cannot play live TV if it’s also recording that episode. My network connection is testing out on the TV around 100-250mbps and I also attempted to connect the TV, via ethernet, to its own range extender just for the sake of testing. I can see in my dashboard that the video does show up as “playing” despite the TV showing buffering.
All of my movie library is encoded H.264 and the files are typically 1.8-2.2mbps at 1080p with AAC audio. I can change to a lower bitrate and playback will immediately proceed but, if I return to the original bitrate buffering will begin immediately and I get a warning that my connection to the server is too slow for playback.
When I look in my app settings the only information under the about tab is the licenses information so I am unable to determine if my app version is Plex for {brand} or Plex for Smart TVs. Regardless, none of the limited playback capabilities that may or may not apply fall outside of the video encoding.
I have tried the 10.4.x… version from the app store as well as both builds shared in this thread; no change occurred with any of the three builds. I currently have 10.6.0.4909 installed.
@sixones - Thank you so very much for helping solve this issue. I downloaded the Beta and tested with a variety of content. Everything works as expected.
I really appreciate your time. Have a wonderful rest of your day.
I have downloaded the Beta and attempted to play a couple titles from my movie library; I still have the same issue.
I really dislike the Google TV UI for a variety of other reasons, as does my wife; I bought a Roku stick and effectively bypassed this problem. I’d still like to fix it in case I should decide I want to use it some time in the future but, I do not need to be prioritized; thanks for all of the help!
here are my logging files, hopefully i did it ok, ive played files that work and files that give of errors or black screen, all give a dv logo on my g3 but wont play, you can here audio though, thanks again
Amazing work team.
Sorry I kept bothering people with it. I just didn’t want this to be closed before it got resolved. Happy I kept bumping it now.
To all those who helped diagnose and resolve this issue, you are all stars!
