@MwC_Trexx, do you still need logs and sample files? In this post with the link to the info from the Nvidia rep it sounded like Plex and Nvidia have already identified the problem with MP4 files, are able to reproduce it, and are working towards the fix:
All this technical stuff is interesting but all I can say is I am on Fire TV, I get this issue on both mkv and mp4 files and it is intermittent. I donât think anyone has this problem when watching plex on the computer where the server is. I know I donât. Therefore, the problem really should be in the serverâs inability to communicate to the apps or vice versa. We get regular updates to the server but I donât know when the last time apps updated.
@rwoffice Yes. While Plex has an idea of the cause, the more samples and logs they have to work with the better.
Fair enough, more information is always better I suppose ![]()

Thanks will try and look st them today.

I dug through my logs and nothing stuck out. I hope the devs/ninjaâs can see something.

Server Logs
Quoting someone from another chat:
I played around with it a little bit last night with my HET server and OVH server, they performed pretty similarly. In plex for AppleTV and Shield (including Kodi with plex plugin on shield and MrMc on Shield) according to glances on my servers it would cap out almost perfectly at 50Mbps. It is almost think the shield experience 7.2.2 has some bug related to pings above certain threshold capping download speed. The plex apps are whatever, and this may lead me to believe there is no actual issue with plex app on shield but with 7.2.2 network drivers. Because emby had same issue for me on shield with both serversâŠSo this sort of leaves me with the conclusion that plex app on appletv = borked, shield network drivers 7.2.2 borked. Everything else not borked. I get instant loads from both servers 100Mbps files on PMP windows.
I had the same exact experience !!!
But why is it that all my Android phones are also affected with this issue? I still think itâs the Plex client.
In looking at your logs briefly, there are lot of issues I see.
- I would update to the newest version of PMS that was just released as there were some mac fixes in it.
I am also seeing slow DB issues. Make sure you have done the usual library maintenance (optimize db, clean bundles, empty trash, etc.).
It could also be a sign that your Mac just isnât fast enough for what you are trying to do (too much resource contention on storage/cpu/etc.).

I am seeing a lot of âgarbage encoding issuesâ related to some of your files. I would say at least from just a quick skim, your media âqualityâ is most of your issue.

I would probably remux them through something like mkvtoolnix, handbrake, etc.
Do you still need more logs for this issue or has the problem been identified?
The last update I had from the devs was they are working on some caching changes that they hope should improve things. I donât have any eta on when that might be released though.
I am experiencing the same issue with all HEVC (H.265) streaming on both Fire TV and Fire Stick regardless of the resolution (480P/1080P). In some cases the video will buffer for a few minutes, give the âYour connection is too slowâ error message, then play normally, while other times it never stops pausing. This is on a local gigabit network (confirmed via pcap that traffic is not hitting the proxy) with a dual-core Xeon server. Older H.264 movies seem to work fine.

I have a 1st GEN Fire TV. After the recent PLEX upgrade on my Fire TV I began getting the Server Not Fast Enough Message followed by intermittent stuttering during playback. I went into settings and tried several combinations. In the end the only thing I needed to change was to reduce the H.264 level from 4 to 3.2 and the issues stopped. Good Luck!
did that change force it to transcode?
I am seeing the client disconnect errors in your logs, but without the corresponding clients logs from that same session, the server logs themselves donât really tell us anything.

So where do we stand with this issue? I feel like if the Plex Devs still have issues clearly understanding the problem after a year - the company should just for a flight ticket to one of our houses and they can take all the logs they want. There are hundreds of people facing this issue.
Are there any Plex Devs even reading and responding to this forum thread?
Just adding myself to the list of people suffering from these problems on shield with local Plex server. Playback is fine on other local devices and even remotely. Glad the Nvidia forums had info on possible fixes soon. Keeping my fingers crossed.
