@ljunkie Please disable the automatic playing of the first Live TV channel when viewing the guide.
Also, the new guide funtionality is a step backwards. Navigating the guide has more needless steps to do the same thing as before.
Trying to view the recent channels list by pressing the down button twice while playing a channel doesn’t work all the time.
Ever since you made these changes my Live TV server has been crashing 10+ times per day. Could it be PMS itself and not the client? Maybe but it would sure be quite the coincidence.
@ljunkie The Roku client is definitely crashing my Live TV & DVR server. The client will fail to load a channel at random and then the next channel I try will work but sometimes will be very stuttery. Other times after it fails it will fail again and again and then it will finally load a channel I tried a few attempts before, by itself in the background, then I try another channel again and the server crashes.
I only have Roku clients signed in on my network at the moment for process of elimination and they are all running Plex Preview and the server crashing only started with the new EPG update.
Sometimes it will show the channel playing on the dashboard but the Roku is stuck on a black screen with the buffer circle…
@ljunkie The server just deadlocked again while one of my users was watching Live TV. I have the server logs if you want them let me know and I’ll message you.
We pushed a new update to preview, that disables starting auto preview without choosing a channel. We also found an issue where if a tune failed, it would cause an indefinite spinner. There were multiple playback requests happening sometimes, which could have overloaded the server, however that is a bit of speculation.
@ljunkie The server is not releasing the tuners if a channel fails to load. It will immediately occupy the tuner after pressing ok on the failed dialog and then sometimes the tuner wont release after that.
Thanks for the confirmation. I had to enable a feature in our client backend. Can you exit the channel by clicking back, and selecting exit. Then reopen the channel and let me know.
@ljunkie Alas, it seems that the first channel starts playing for me when I open the Guide in Live TV & DVR (I leave Guide as the default tab when I open Live TV & DVR). It doesn’t matter whether I start scrolling the list of channels or keep the cursor on Live TV & DVR in the left hand menu (without pressing the right direction button to highlight a channel to scroll). I’ve exited and re-entered the channel a few times as well as deleted the release Plex channel just to make sure with no success. This is with 6.9.12.7405-2d739d238-PlexPreview.
Please exit Plex Preview all the way to the Roku home screen, possibly check for updates on the Roku and/or reboot the Roku and then re-load Plex Preview. The first channel isn’t automatically playing for me… unless we have some user specific stuff happening on the backend…
@dkirker try forcing an update on the Roku again. It looks like you are using PMS v1.24.3, which uses older screens for the guide, and auto preview was still enabled there. You could also look into upgrading the server, which should provide a better experience navigating the guide.
@kegbeach@ljunkie I hadn’t had a chance to reboot the Roku (ended up going to bed shortly after posting), however I had exited and reentered the Plex Preview channel a few times last night. However, upon my arrival home tonight I just tried opening the Live TV guide and it seems that now the first TV channel does not start playing. Thank you! So, my guess is maybe some issue pulling down updated feature flag from the backend.
@ljunkie I am noticing that Plex is getting stuck tuner sessions lately. I’m not sure if this would be a Roku issue. It seems to happen if channels are changed too quickly after initial tuning.
The dashboard pull down says: Recording: Live TV - Session with no progress wheel next to it.
If this happens too many times in succession Plex will become unresponsive to channel changes and requires a reboot.
@ljunkie As a suggestion can we get a function for the EPG when we hold the down button it will skip large blocks of channels so scrolling to the bottom of the guide is more sane. (nevermind, the two buttons next to the play/pause button does this)
Also getting video that will glitch out and when it comes back it’s in slow motion. (doesn’t always happen)
