Plex reading the wrong computer

Server Version#:4.66.1
Player Version#:

Ok, this is a very strange problem and I am very frustrated.

I used to have plex running on a computer hooked to my living room TV. Over 3000 movies on one HD, and about 70+ TV series on a second drive. I spent days organizing them, getting them all set up, and the system worked great. I have all the movies and TV shows backed up on external drives connected to a separate computer in my office.

An issue arose with my movie server computer in the livingroom, and I had to replace the MB and processor. Once done, I reinstalled everything, and I could not get plex to run again. I tore my hair out for a couple weeks trying to get it working, but It kept saying it could not find the server. I tried uninstalling and removing plex, installing it over again multiple times. No matter what I did, I could not get it to let me see the section in the settings that lets me add new libraries, to readd the folders.

So I created a new e-mail address with my ISP, and then reinstalled plex media server with a new ac count, and it gave me the option to add new folders and make a new library. So I did this. I spent the last 2 days rebuilding my library, getting all the movie images set, all the movies in order and everything is fine.

Except when I went to add the folders, the drive letters didn’t match. On my movie server, drive C: is my operating system. I have a seperate HD, Drive E with all my movies. And a seperate hard drive, Drive F with all my TV series. But when I went to add those folders, drive E in the list showed stuff that wasn’t even on this computer. Likewise with drive F. I only have 3 hard drives on this computer, Drive C, E, and F. Yet the list of drives when I went to add them showed 6 different drives.

Thinking it was a glitch, I looked through the list and found my movies and TV series, and added those drives. Spent the past couple days getting it all organized, but now it’s not working, and I’ve discovered why. That list of drives that it was showing me were the drives that are on my OTHER computer. It didn’t even give me the option to add drives on my Movie Server computer. No idea why.

So now, If I have my OTHER computer running, I can watch movies on my living room TV with my Movie Server computer connected to it. But if I go back into my office, and shut down my Gaming computer, where my external back ups are connected, I can not watch any movies on my livingroom TV.

Plex is not giving me the option to add the hard drives that are physically on my movie server computer. Is there any way I can add them, or do I have to once again make a new account, make sure my gamming system in my office is powered down, and THEN reinstall plex with yet another account and redo all the work i spent the last couple days doing?

Any way to fix this without pushing me over the brink toward suicide?

Thanks in advance for all your help.

Gonzo.
