Plex recently added items stuck

Server Version#: 1.27.2.5929
Player Version#:

So I run two different plex servers on a unraid machine. Two seperate docker instances, two different plex DBs pointed to the exact same media folders.

My first plex server works perfectly in regard to the recently added items. My newly second plex server the recently added items do not update correctly it seems certain shows and or movies are stuck at the front of the list preventing people from seeing the real recently added items. I tried removing and re adding the libraries but same issue occurs. Unsure how to fix this or why this is occurring as the media and media libraries for both servers are the same.

Any help much appreciated

can you post your server logs? the most common issue with unraid is database corruption.

when you sort the library by Date Added do they also show in the same incorrect order of the row.? Sorted like this should also display how long ago they were added under each poster.

Is empty trash enabled or not and/or is there any chance that instance of server loses access to media folders at any time possibly causing server to rescan everything in as new periodically.

So if I go into tv library mode and change sort To date added with the down arrow. I see what I would expect to be seeing on the home page recently added section. The home page recently added section seems to be almost inverse? This is a brand new second instance of plex docker I am running pointing to the same media folders my original plex docker is using I have no issue if you tell me how to properly wipe this db to fix it. I just don’t see how it can be corrupted when it should be essentially a brand new db to begin with and I do not have any issues with my other plex instance. Thanks for your help. Also empty trash was enabled before as default I believe but I did stumble on other similar posts saying to disable that so it’s been disabled for a bit now

Just another note. I completely did the nuclear option and completely wiped my plex data folder and started brand new with auto empty trash disabled.

So I re added my movies and tv folders and I don’t expect the recently added to match my existing server for obvious reasons.

I waited for both libraries to finish scanning completely I then deleted a particular show from my server, waited for plex to realize its gone. I put that exact same show back on my server on my first plex server the correct thing happens that show I removed and readded is at the front of recently added for tv shows on home page.

On my second brand new plex instance it’s not on the recently added tv home page. If I click the recently added category and scroll to the bottom I see it there. Makes no sense to me why it’s doing this and even though it’s at the bottom it’s not even the last item in the list which it should be if it was inverse.

Did you do the full Plex dance for your test?

No but why should this matter if plex server #1 has zero issue with the exact same media folders and if I just did a complete new plex install as well?

You tried to do a plex dance, but only did part of it, but plex still remembered the media. This can be a good thing or a bad thing. Because plex “remembers” the prior files it re-uses the info about them including the date added info. Really useful if a drive disconnects.

What you expect to see on server 2 requires you to do the entire plex dance.

Sure but I guess my issue with that logic is that this is a brand new plex install for server 2 with a clean db and even if I place a new series never been on my server before it acts the same. I don’t expect recently added to match server #1 because it obviously scans those folders in their entirety differently and whatever but even new episodes or different movies that are being grabbed are acting the same way so I’m perplexed. Also the movies category in this regard seems unaffected only the tv library is acting this way

Any ideas sir?

Do you have recently added merged in manage library recommendations?

I do not

I should further clarify recently added movies section on server 2 is working perfectly normal it’s only recently added tv shows which refuses to show the actual new recently added content at forefront. Also if I click into tv library and sort via date added (down arrow descending date added) the items show correctly. Home hub recently added does not reflect what sorting by date added does

Can you please take a screenshot of the RA row on home screen, and the top of the TV library sorted by “last episode date added”. I feel like there is something obvious I am just not seeing.

I see the spinner is still going. is it still scanning stuff in from initial scan?

If this is a new library and if you don’t mind creating it again. I would recreate it but only add a single show and let it scan in and let all the metadata update. then add the rest to the TV folder. I think it might be using folder date as the date added for initial scan.

No it’s just doing some intro scanning stuff and like I said before this is a brand new plex install so no corruption should be possible and the libraries are mapped to the same folders as my no issue server 1 is. So I don’t know how I could do what you suggest without messing up server one? And my series folders have no dates in the name if that’s what you mean or if you mean in terms of file folder attributes still doesn’t make sense to me because server 1 has exact same mappings and content without the issue? And shouldn’t recently added on home hub just be reproducing what is shown in library for date added which is actually correct?

Your first server i imaginge has been around for a while and you have been adding to it over time. Server two sounds like you created new and added everything at once. but maybe I am misunderstanding.

take some other video file you have and make a fake show you don’t actually have.

Like TVtest/Ms Marvel/Season 1/Ms Marvel S01E01.mkv

then after that adds completely. edit the library and add your real TV folder. and don’t remove the test one until your real one finishes. create a second library if you don’t want to mess with the one you have already scanned in. ( i see that is a lot of stuff so I can understand not wanting to scan in everything again

Ok so what I did was removed my existing tv library completely. Emptied trash cleaned bundles all that stuff. I made a new directory on my server called tv2. I added a random tv show to it. I then added tv2 folder as my tv library let it scan in as you suggested then added my actual library as a second folder and let that scan in and NOW everything is showing properly in recently added. I don’t understand why this could even be the case if this was a brand new plex install, brand new plex database so it has to do with my library folder attributes? Regardless thank you!
