I recently moved from Kodi to Plex and am having an unusual issue. My media all lives on an Unraid server and my recently added movies keeps changing, I have about 1,900 films and amount plex seems to see is usually about 30 less than this and every few days I get new added films but it seems to be removing films as it just keeps add random films. So must be removing ones and adding ones.
Its an utter pain as I cant easily see what I have actually recently added and need to hunt fir what I have, Im using a Nvida Sheild TV Pro 2020 as my Plex server as need to build a new server but just done have the money at the moment.
The difference in numbers could be based on automatically created collections. If your library is configured to hide items in collections, you’ll see the collection entry only (e.g. 1 entry for James Bond instead of a dozen individual movies).
Plex will however ignore certain media (e.g. files named in accordance with a tv-show naming schema won’t be recognized inside a movie library, .iso/.dvdmedia/… files are not supported…) https://support.plex.tv/articles/201543057-why-is-some-of-my-content-not-found/
If you created a new library, Plex will usually try to use the file creation date to initialize when the files were added in order to avoid all files showing as “added” at the same day (when you actually added them to your new Plex Media Server). Instead of using the Recently Added hub on your server’s homepage or the library’s Recommended tab you can open the actual library and sort it by Date Added. This should show the dates below the poster and title.
If Plex keeps “changing” the recently added hub, this implies there might be a load of movies with the same date-added timestamp.
Ok that makes sense. I’ll check the dates that items added. It’s just strange that items added year’s ago pop up. Might be as u say a number of one’s with the same date.
