I have Plex server set up on my Synology NAS. I have forwarded the ports on my router, maybe more ports than needed. I have shut off anti-virus as well as firewall on the NAS yet I cannot access Plex outside the network. I did a port check for 32400 but that returns a problem. Moreover, the port check for NAS DSM like 5000 is also showing an issue. I have UPNP checked too. I am enclosing pics of everything I have done so far. All help to rectify this would be greatly appreciated.![57%20PM|690x218]
The thing is this time right from set up it has not been working. There has been no change when these instances have occurred. Does a DDNS help in this by the way? Also I just realised, today it is not available outside the network. This thing has got me utterly confused and slightly irritated now. But thank you for helping.
When I uncheck ‘Manually specify public port’ Plex uses port 13088. When I try to port forward this port on my Netgear router, I get a message indicating other configurations are using this port. Could the problem lie somewhere here. I am enclosing a pic of the message I get on my router.
I have not used DDNS or QuickConnect for Plex. Also, have been on 32400 for remote access. Also on my Netgear R8000 router I have tried with a single port forward rule that of Plex but its not working that way either. UPnP is enabled too. Logged out of everywhere, stopped the Plex server on NAS and restarted but no avail.
No I will soon apply for a static public address. But doesn’t that make me more vulnerable?
First off thanks for your guidance and help. But here I am confused because I only have one router in my system. This router is connected to the RJ-45 ethernet cable coming out of a socket. There is no modem in my set up. Guess the connection comes from a common network switchboard in my apartment complex. If that is being read by Plex as Double-NAT, what in your opinion is the solution?
So I just checked remote access and it’s working now. The problem seems to be peculiar to my ISP. Because I did not have to bridge or any such. Thought I may be able to resolve it by getting a static IP so spoke to them. They said they don’t give static IP for my kind of connection but they would give me something called a frame ip. They could not explain what it was nor could I get an explanation that I could understand on the interwebs. I got the frame IP anyway, and the remote access seems to be working.
PS: The strange bit is, I have no ports forwarded.
