Im having an issue with plex not showing the cover on movies with the same name. For example, the 60’s version of The Italian Job & the 90’s version of The Italian Job. I can tell plex to update the metadata on the first movie and it will display the cover again; but when I tell it to update the second movies metadata it removes the movie from my library. The movie is still on my HDD but it is no longer displayed! Even if I have ensured that the correct metadata has been embedded with each movie. I.E. Same name, but different years, cast, descriptions, etc… Has anybody else had this issue and come up with a fix or work around?
Most likely a matching problem due to how you have named your media for the movies on disk. Recent scanner changes has caused some folks some problems even if they where okay previously. Rename the folders which contain the two movies like this …

… should solve the problem. The stuff in { } is somewhat optional as its a id tag which will force plex to match it exactly so you can omit that if you want but certainly do add the year in ( ) as that will be used a hint to match the movie.
If you still have problem then please let us know exactly how your media is named including the folders they are in and also attach server logs after doing a scan or metadata refresh.
