Plex Research Invitation

The other day I received an invitation from Plex to participate in a survey. It said:

"We here at Plex love to hear from our users, so we’ve teamed up with a research company, Toluna, to gather your feedback. Help us understand the things you like most about Plex and identify ways to make it even better. "

Fine, I thought, I’ll do the survey. So I started it, entered my email address and age, as requested by the survey, and was immediately told:

“Thank you for sharing your opinions!
Thanks a lot. Unfortunately, you do not qualify for this particular survey.”

Er, I didn’t get a chance to give any opinions. So much for Plex loving to hear from their users. :o

Not for nothing, but that could very well have been a phishing email for personal information. Just saying.

I’m checking into the legitimacy of this

Please the information you received.

To be clear, the email is legitimate.

I don’t know the specifics of the data gathered/questions asked, but I know that the data gathering can sometimes be targeted to subsets of users. So, it may have been something like some combination of location, age, device usage, etc. that made it so that you didn’t “qualify” this time, @gcoupe.

There’s no argument that the message shown to you was kind of confusing, though. It is, indeed, rather silly to thank you for your opinions if you didn’t have the opportunity to actually share them (and the “you do not qualify” is blunt, at best). I’ve passed the feedback along to our team so that we can improve things for future efforts. Thanks!
