Plex restarts new Google TV Chromecast

Same here

Anyone know if this is a server issue, or a client issue?

With the nature of the issue, it’s rooted in the client, but for it to be triggered when plex goes to the next episode, something related to the server has to also be an issue. There has to be something different with the way Plex serves up an episode when selecting it as compared to when the app goes to the next episode itself.

Has there been any update or progress on this? It seems to happen most often with skipping manually to the next episode. I have a playlist of my favorite shows I watch and got the new google TV hoping this would play more codecs than my old one. Really annoying my chromecast has to keep resetting.

My Google tv completely reboots after the error message comes up i click ok then I’m in the season menu and select the next episode. It also reboots if I try to play the next episode when seeing the credits of the current show I’m watching. I have to back out to on deck or continue watching and click the next episode for it to not reboot. My Roku’s work perfectly with playing the next episode.

I also have the exact same issue. Hopefully there is an update with a fix soon as it is pretty unusable having Plex zoomed in and crash after watching one episode of something.

Same issue here. If I select original quality then it’s all stretched. If I do convert automatically it looks awful and the only other option I get is 240p

Compare this to Plex on my LG TV and that gives me all the options and streams fine

Anyone at least found a workaround? This bug is quite annoying…

Nothing viable that I’ve seen. Most ā€œworkaroundsā€ say to use Kodi to access Plex

Yep weird workaround, as I’ve just migrated from Kodi.

I can confirm that I have the same issues as the original post.

Yep, I thought it was me. Plex is crashing my Chromecast with TV like Hunter’s laptop on a coke binge when I try to do original quality, and a lot of times subtitles too.

Hope it gets fixed soon, but I don’t imagine it will be here in time for the holiday weekend.

Hi Dave, now that you are back from leave, any further updates?

Can’t speak for him, but pestering about it will likely not get it done any quicker.
