Unfortunately KenC you just spoke on Dave’s behalf. I could be wrong but I don’t think Dave is part of the Plex development team, so asking him questions probably doesn’t slow down having bug fixes implemented.
Same issue here
Nothing further at the moment, though I’m continuing to follow this up internally.
Thanks Dave! This bug is driving me nuts and making it near impossible to watch my TV library without the Chromecast rebooting constantly
The bug was first introduced in 8.16.X and still exists in the latest 8.18.X version.
Yeah, I’m chasing it up
Just adding my voice to say I’m experiencing it too. Fortunately I can switch to the Plex app on my Samsung TV as a workaround.
Love Plex. See amazing potential in the Chromecast with Google TV. I simply can’t recommend it while it takes users through a 5+ year negative time warp of instablity.
Same here. Reboots
Just upgraded to the new Google TV Chromecast just to find this issue… Hope that this problem gets fix soon.
Same here. But I found that it does it more often with x265 than with x264
Just adding my name to the list of people having this issue. It’s driving me nuts because I had a drive failure on my server and rebuilt 20tb from scratch but decided to switch from h264 to HEVC. I either have to kill the app between episodes, or use the plex for kodi.
Still no answer from Plex. This issue has been going on for too long with no acknowledgement from the Plex team that it exists…
I had this problem last week playing an x264 encoding. The Google TV rebooted five times (each time making it a few seconds later in the show than before) until I finally gave up and plugged in my Roku which played everything fine.
I thought maybe the file had something strange going on, but when I went to troubleshoot it the next day the Google TV played the entire show without fail.
I’m getting ready to stop using and promoting Plex with this issue. What am I paying for?
Any word? I’ve been unable to use much of Plex on CCWGTV for weeks and it’s been 19 days since you last popped in to this thread.
I am still following up on this, but I don’t have any further information at the moment, I’m afraid.
I appreciate the follow up – it’s very frustrating and renders Plex unusable for me, as most of my library is in x265. I hope it can be fixed soon.
lol pretty much two months later and still an issue… way to go, good job.
I’m doing everything I personally can, it’s not something I am personally capable of fixing
Dave, if you engineers need anything i work from home and am at my computer nearly all the time. so given explicit instructions i can create any sort of bundle or debug or whatever for any scenario they want.
