Plex says "a direct connection to the server is not available"

I’ve been using plex for a long time, never had any issues. I run plex off my windows laptop and stream my movies to my roku tv over wifi. Plex is up to date. As of tonight, when I try to steam any movies or TV shows to the plex app on my roku TV, it looks like I’m watching an old vhs tape. I go to setting to check the quality and I see this setting I’ve never seen called “limited quality” set to 1 mbps, and I can’t change it. When I highlight this option, the text at the bottom of the screen says “A direct connection to the server is not available”. I have no VPN running currently, haven’t changed any settings on my laptop, roku tv, or plex, and I’m wondering what suddenly caused this issue or how I can fix it. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
