plex says that there is an update available for manual installation, I can download it but how do I install it?

PLEX is on a synology server

  • download the file
  • open the Synology DSM and go to the Package Manager
  • click manual installation
  • pick the downloaded file
  • click next / install
  • tadaaaa

alternatively you can wait until the update is pushed via Synology’s package manager

You do need to add Plex as a trusted source for Synology packages before manually loading PMS (just have to do this once, not for every update).
