Plex scans incorred tittle names for some tv shows?

for tv shows like ancient aliens and how the universe works he scans the meta data or tittlenames wrong i hade to correct them my self why does it not scans the correct names for those tv shows?

  1. Check for embedded metadata if using MP4 files
  2. Verify your naming against the standard. (this isn’t 100% standard. I use . as the delimiter and not - and it’s more than good enough)

how do i do thise normally i correct them seperate i chck for the names on imdb or wikipedia and then i rename it on plex server self?

i do that all the time i call the folder ancient aliens in that folder i make it season 1 season 2 season 3 etc and in that map i put the mkv file names

The best way to handle the files with Plex is to perform the renaming external to a folder Plex monitors. Renaming something, once scanned, requires it be moved out and the ‘Plex Dance’ be performed (move out, update library, empty trash, clean bundles, move back, scan one last time).

Filebot is a very common tool and has a {plex} renaming template. It will rename and move in one step
TheRenamer is another tool but am not familiar with it

Can you show me your names as you have them ?

i mostly get tv shows in 720p 1080p not lower

i use external hardrive i have now 8 tb and next week im buying a 8tb again

ye but file bot doesend works on windows 8.1 i dont use windows 10 since it always locks up my pc while its a good one and i need to do a hard reset alot of people have issue with that so im using windows 8.1

Have you tried ‘TheRenamer’ ? http://www.therenamer.com/

the names goes like this ancient.aliens.s01e01.720p-dhd

sorry for the spam

i wil try that one does it work for free?

I do not know. I use FileBot on Linux only

Name them using TheTVDB.org. PMS uses TVDB first, and TMDB/IMDB second if no match found

i think its working now i used therenamer on the full tv show and it seems to be scanning right now i tested it on only ancient aliens i have atm 50 tv shows mostly newer ones are right scanned but older ones like ancient aliens i need to rename

It does take time to rename your entire library. When it’s done, and if you use the tool before giving the media to Plex, you’ll be very happy you do. It will never have a problem

ye thnx for this its awsome tool the renamer because i dont want that friends family say that name is wrong of the episode now i can finally make it right its also nice to donate to keep the coder more motivated to keep goin on:) i think i wil do it for all my tv shows once i go to bed i let it run and proceed then go to bed
