I am trying to get Plex to recognize and match to the series “Manhunt: Joanne Dennehy”, which has a valid listing on thetvdb.com (Manhunt: Joanne Dennehy - TheTVDB.com) with the series ID 454641. For some reason, no matter what I do Plex doesn’t find the match. I have tried adding the number to the folder like recommended, I have tried searching by the number when doing a match, I have tried removing some of the words to see if it finds it, I have tried copying and pasting it exactly as it is (with the colon) to see if that helps, and nothing seems to get it to match the series. I am using the latest Plex Series agent for the tv show library as well. Here is the link to the show on Amazon as well:
Anybody have any suggestions on how to get this to match or has anybody seen this happen before?
The reason is probably that — while this is listed as a 1-episode tv show on TheTVDb — there’s no actual metadata for it.
Also… both TMDb, TheTVDb have listed it as a documentary / movie.
So, you are saying that Plex will only match if there’s metadata in it, correct? I was able to find the show listed as a movie, but I hate taking something that comes as 2 or more episodes and combining then to make it act like a movie (I don’t like credits and intros repeatedly in a single movie). Apple also has this show listed as a TV show with episodes, so it’s not just Amazon. To fix this issue, do I need to get the entry fixed in thetvdb.com to have metadata, or something else?
It’s not so much about bad metadata but the complete lack of it.
1 episode
No title
No description
No release dates
No cast
production company and channel are listed, nothing else
There’s a chance someone created a similar single-episode record on TMDb that has since been deleted for violating their rules (items should be created as the type they were released). It’s a battle you can fight, but it’s a loosing one.
