I was able to switch TV agents from Plex Series to The TVDB and get it to recognize, but I don’t want to leave the agent on that just for one single TV series. Is there any way to force “Plex Series” to pull by specific ids?
If you are using the “Plex TV Series” agent, you can include the TMDB or TVDB show ID in the folder name to improve matching. If you choose to do that, it must be inside curly braces: ShowName (2020) {tvdb-123456} or ShowName (2020) {tmdb-123456} where 123456 is the show ID
They’re both in tmdb as they were two part movies rather than miniseries.
I did move them to tv shows to try, but they don’t show up there either.
Not to mention, the first “miniseries”, Terry Pratchett’s Hogfather, show up in movies just fine with no issues.
Edit: I was able to solve it; there was something hiccuping. They now work fine, but I’m not sure what I did to fix it.
If you see the word “season” pop up, you know that it is listed as a “tv show”.
You need to put it into a library of the type “tv show”, or you won’t get any metadata in Plex.
Wish that other person didn’t hijack my thread to ask about their “Going Postal” which has nothing to do with my issue raised.
Let’s get back on track.
So I did what @BigWheel suggested with the curly braces, and while it’s slightly better, there are some strangenesses still happening.
After renaming the parent folder and refreshing Metadata, the following happened;
The poster came across from tvdb=398725 and I verified on mine that there is no similar or duplicate artwork showing.
The episode names and summary worked to show correctly
The show name showed correctly
The show summary showed the Spanish version for some reason, even though English exists. So I just copied it from TVDB and pasted and locked it on my Plex.
So overall I think this is solved, but there is something really wonky with Plex TV Series metadata like it’s merging multiple valid shows into a single parent mess up.
