Plex Series Scanner Manual Match No Longer Working but is still available to select

@BigWheel Server Version#: Version 1.32.0.6918
Player Version#: n/a

So just recently, maybe last update (?) if a TV item is showing incorrectly, i usually right click and rename the title and have thetvdb auto recognize it. Now, when I do that, even though I have 2 dozen episodes of a show already matched, it instantly pops up with no results… something buggy?? Please help. Thanks!

Can you post your server logs and the name of a show you are trying to match?

Is there a way I can send to you privately? Name of show is “FBI”

And just saw it’s not only one show - “True Lies” as well.

If it’s not your naming and dbirch doesn’t see anything odd in your logs it could be related to this on the same server version

Thanks! My naming is fine, since it’s always worked until recently. The drive it’s going to is T:\ and it’s a NAS - so perhaps it is that issue?

Feel free to PM me the files or a link to the zip in either google drive or drop box

@dbirch So I just looked to see what SMB my NAS is using as the connection to my desktop (Windows) machine - it’s SMB3, so I don’t think it’s the known issue? Which specific log file do you need?

If you download the zip as per the plex server logs article I can use that.

So thanks for sending those logs over, however Debug was disabled, (Please renable that and do NOT enable verbose)

From what I am seeing:
Apr 12, 2023 21:16:19.834 [85608] WARN - [Req#e7d45] Unable to load episode file ["seasons\2\episodes\2.xml"]

Apr 13, 2023 05:03:16.737 [89484] WARN - NAT: PMP, got an error: NATPMP_ERR_RECVFROM.

Apr 13, 2023 19:35:48.849 [90800] WARN - [HttpClient/HCl#4260] HTTP error requesting GET undefined (6, Couldn't resolve host name) (Could not resolve host: undefined)

I cannot tell for certain but it looks like a network related issue (with normal logs I could see more)

However I will say that your media naming schema sucks. Its far from the approved standard. You are throwing everything into a TV for as individual episodes, or as episode folders.

My canned response is to see https://support.plex.tv/articles/naming-and-organizing-your-tv-show-files/ and:

If you want to save yourself a lot of time I would recommend using Download - tinyMediaManager and use:

Episode format:
${showTitle} - S${seasonNr2}E${episodeNr2} - ${title}

Folder format:
${showTitle} (${showYear}) {tvdb-${tvShow.ids.tvdb}}/Season ${seasonNr2}

as the new name format.
(Please note I linked to the v3 which is free to use)

Thank you for the info. I will look into it…

Getting you back to your own thread, what kind of drive is d?

Apr 13, 2023 00:36:52.610 [67408] ERROR - Got exception from request handler: boost::filesystem::directory_iterator::construct: The system cannot find the path specified [system:3]: "d:\ProgramFiles\Plex Media Server\Metadata\TV Shows\5\34fe1b70fcb9c2aef58466a23dc790cb7356751.bundle\Contents\_stored\seasons

I reported something similar a few days ago.

https://forums.plex.tv/t/content-matching-is-failing/837326?u=wyldemusick

D: is a 3-drive group of drives in an Intel RST RAID 5. All internal. Only T: is an SMB3 link to a NAS.

As per my comment in the other thread, can you create a new test library and use the new agent and see if data is pulled?

Rolling back to the last version you were using successfully will let you know if this is the same update bug or something personal to you

If it is the same bug that’s the only solution at the moment anyway

Any update on this? I think I have the same issue. One of my libraries is using Plex Series Scanner and TheTVDB isn’t returning any results. The Movie Database is working under the same scanner. The last time I added new media which successfully fetched metadata from TheTVDB was 20 days ago which looks to be just before 1.32.0.6918.

I have added 31 new shows in this library. Plus more in another library using the Plex TV Series agent/scanner - that is working fine. That library is still detecting intros although that shouldn’t be an issue as The Movie Database is finding results.

@K_MEDIA please create a new thread and we will look into your issue

Never got round to creating a thread for my issue but it appears to have been fixed. My one library using Plex Series Scanner now shows results from both TheTVDB and The Movie Database agents.

I realised that with Plex Series Scanner, using TheTVDB doesn’t populate my shows with TVDB ratings as with my other libraries using the Plex TV Series scanner/agent. Where Plex Series Scanner using The Movie Database agent does give a rating. So I’ve gone with this setup for this library.

For those wondering why I don’t use Plex TV Series scanner/agent with all my tv show libraries, I have a specific use case where the library using the Plex Series Scanner contains a subset of shows (in one directory) of all the tv shows used in another library (that references both directories). Setting it this way, allows both libraries to track played content separately. If both libraries use the same scanner, then playing a show in one library shows up as played in the other library too. While I know in theory I could achieve the same result using a Collection or similar within a single library, this is simply what the family prefer and it works well for us.
