This server claiming process is just making the service unusable to me. i had a registry file i could run to repair this problem but its just not working anymore.
All the guides are trash - no offense
but how in the heck to i get around this. its making it impossible to use a service i pay for. just recently tried to install on a new laptop, stuck at that stupid not authorized screen, everything fails to load, however i do see the server was added to authorized devices from my working plex server.
How can i fix this
and for the love of god let me TURN THIS FEATURE OFF! i can manage my own security.
Wise cracks not really needed. Wishing there was an option to turn it off, not a requirement.
If there is a mod out there this topic can be erased, I’ve given up on using it for a laptop just for media organization, guess I’m just going to stick with kodi for that. There is no need for this one to share anything.
I’m not trying to be rude, but I’ve got way too much on my mind right now to care about this. It’s such a recurring problem I would figure more people would have it on startup. Maybe my plex account actually has issues, I’m pretty sure it’s not on my end.
I’ve always been able to whack it like an old tv with Reddit searching over and over to get it to work, but the plex guides are not useful, I am extremely fluent in IT and I do realize that sometimes I sacrifice security for functionality. The way plex authorizes a new server is very flawed and really needs an overhaul. There are other ways I can verify who I am when trying to establish a new server that are secure
Anyways I always backup the main two servers registry to a cloud service so I am pretty safe there
When you start a post out trashing a program you are asking for help with, dont be surprised to get a wisecrack. Plex is designed for the general user, so security and feature sets are geared that way. For 999 out of a 1000 users plex works with out issue. Plex has a design framework that is internet based, and relies on Plex servers for most functionality. If you have a use case that Plex isnt designed for trying to force plex to fill that role may not be the best idea. IE dont use a shoe as a crowbar.
However most issues that get reported are easily identifiable and fixable if debug server logs are provided.
