Plex Server Dissapeared

Server Version#:1.32.5.7349-7000
Player Version#: Web app from the server package

For some reason all my clients can’t see the local server anymore, app.plex.tv lost it as well, the package seems to run fine on a Synology NAS, I can access the webapp, but that’s all.

@chuckpa can you lend a hand, I think this is a SSL issue, but logs are limited.

The server certificate at Plex.tv is valid.

The server communicated with Plex.tv –

CREATED ABOUT 4 HOURS AGO
LAST SEEN ABOUT 2 HOURS AGO

This looks to be a completely new server ???

Please advise –

If this is indeed the same server instance -

  1. Check the NAS Date & Time - Something is out of sync with global time (NTP)
  2. Stop Plex
  3. Open FileStation
  4. Navigate PlexMediaServer/AppData/Plex Media Server/Cache
  5. Remove the file cert-v2.p12
  6. Start Plex

This will allow it to download a fresh copy of its certificate

Subsequental:

  1. Permissions needed for the Music shared folder (PlexMediaServer)

Oct 03, 2023 20:50:18.224 [140274870963000] ERROR - Couldn’t check for the existence of file “/volume2/Music2/.grab”: boost::filesystem::status: Permission denied [system:13]: “/volume2/Music2/.grab”

Yeah, I uninstalled the server and installed it again. It did not help right away, I could see an unclaimed server though, but claiming resulted in some errors. After some googling I changed Synology network config not to use my gateway as DNS, but pointed directly to public Google DNS servers. That helped me to claim the server.

Thanks for the permission remark! I moved my music elsewhere but left that old folder in the library.
