Plex server doesn't start the setup wizard on install

I recently realized that the account I had was actually a sub account of my friend who helped me set it up. This created several problems for me and decided to make a new account on my own.

I uninstalled everything and started over from scratch

I made the new account and then went to “Your media” and used the link there to go get Plex Server. I installed that and no setup wizard happened. It just did the install and was like ok it’s running now go you… BUT plex still says I need a server.

From what I can tell a setup wizard should have popped up to set up the name of the server and libraries and all of that and it did not.

I have uninstalled rebooted reinstalled several times to no avail…

This is extremely annoying at this point so I hope someone cal give me some guidance on how to proceed.

Did you delete the registry content after uninstalling the server software?
If not, your newly installed server is still using the old account.

i’ll try that

The registry key it says to remove is not present

Did you actually download and install “Plex MEDIA SERVER” and not “Plex for Windows”?

yes i installed Plex Media server

See New Claiming Requirement for Windows

That didn’t seem to work either the file it said to run doesn’t exist in my plex server files…
This is really getting frustrating

I’m completely new to Plex, downloaded Plex and Plex MS but no wizard. Can I force-start the wizard or use the server some other way? This is kind of ridiculous.
