Plex Server Version#: 1.23.2.4625-a83d2d0f9
Player Version#: Version 1.31.1.2262-74fdc6b7
I updated the Media Server for Windows to 1.23.2.4625-a83d2d0f9 (June 1) and for the first time in years, my Plex server will not run. I’ve tried all troubleshooting steps I can find on this forum.
Is anyone else having trouble with this server update?
This happened to me too, see here: Plex Server all of the sudden unavailable/unreachable.
Check and see if there is a new server listed in your settings. Once you connect to it, you’ll be able to access all your libraries again, but you have to unpin the library links to the old server and repin to the new. Hope this helps.
@AKFree any chance you have a DVR/Live TV setup? If so, you might have the same problem I did and in order to get it back up and running had to delete my DVR setup. No one’s been able to suggest a root cause yet so I’m stuck without DVR.
Here’s the post (even though it says Linux, it’s happening on my Windows server as well):
I have this issue. I don’t get a duplicate server. It just crashes right away. And yes, I have liveTV/DVR. Rolled back one version and I’m fine. I’ll just wait, I guess.
That notice you linked to says " You can now upgrade to the new release 1.23.2.4656 rather than downgrading.". That build did not work for me. I had the same issues after updating to that version (media server would crash 30-60 seconds after starting). I downgraded and everything is working as expected.
Do you guys need more logs or any other data points to help identify and resolve the issue?
Hey, I solved my issue (for the time being). Looks like it’s LiveTV/DVR and specifically if you have a recurring sports recording schedule. In my case, I was set to record all Red Sox MLB games. Removing that from my schedule fixes the problem. Running the latest build now no issues. NO more dying after start. Weird.
This, once I finally saw it in the settings, worked for me. It was just a bit scary for a moment, because I thought I had to set everything up all over again. But I just changed the name of the server I saw that had been created to a more user-friendly name and all was good.
Subsequent Plex server updates after this issue have all been trouble free.
I did not have to do that thankfully. See my reply to @kerlimann_gmail.com where I describe I had the same experience he had.
I have delayed my reply for how that fix worked for me because I wanted to be sure that fix didn’t cause some other problem - but I’m good to go with the fix described by that forum user.
Thanks for your reply @irishpadres - I appreciate your suggestion!!
