On fresh installs of plex via .deb package or docker container fail to fetch a certificate during setup/installation causing a “secure connection failed” error in the browser. In Firefox the cert for this error shows as blank. Here are the logs from plex

Having the same problem on Windows. Looks like an error with the server supplying the certificate.

Good to know I’m not the only one. Looks like everyone who’s trying to setup a server is shromped for the time being hopefully its fixed by the end of today they were having some problems yesterday also

We identified an issue on our back end regarding the certificates. A fix has been made on our back end. Restart PMS and try again. This may take some time to propagate so if you still don’t get a certificate, try again a little later.

Thanks! glad to know it wasnt me going crazy

I ran into this issue 24 hours ago and now after rebooting the server, not just the service, the issue has been fixed. Thank you Plex team!

I’m seeing this issue today, can’t connect to my server securely, logs showing:

Nov 15, 2018 22:50:27.228 [0x7f1489bfd700] ERROR - CERT: Could not fetch certificate from the cloud: 503

There is a limit on how often PMS will try to get a certificate. If you are adding/removing your server a lot trying to solve this issue, that will only make it worse. Just let your server sit for a day and see if it solves itself.
