ok, afraid not familiar with Verizon as am in the UK.
What happens if you open a new terminal window and just run that curl command from your iMac?

I get the response you stated I should get:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8">Invalid authentication token
Ok, so looks like it is just nas specific then
If the firewall is enabled on the nas, you could see if (temporarily) disabling that makes any difference.
The firewall is not enabled. Maybe I can add the ip address of plex.tv to the allow/block list?
Nope. I entered the following ip addresses into the Allow IP address list:
99.80.10.222
99.80.242.182
99.81.119.124
It’s still waiting to return so I anticipate a timeout
plex.tv has multiple ip addresses, so that’s probably not a good idea, and if the firewall is not enabled that should not be having any impact.
But I have to admit I am running out of ideas…
Im going to head over to the synology fourms. Maybe someone over there has had the same experience.
I was just clicking around and I see the following at the bottom of one of the network screens:
Network error occurred Please check your DNS and network settings.
So, something strange IS going on. I am going to get on a tech chat with Synology and see what they have to say.
Thank you for all your assistance…
ok, good luck
If all else fails you may need to reset the DSM, see Q20 of Trumpy’s FAQ’s
but be very careful if you do.
I was finally able to get the NAS to connect to the internet so my connectivity issue is resolved. So I tried claiming the PMS with the claimpms.sh script. It ran through getting PMS server identifier ok, getting user token from plex.tv ok, and getting PMS claim token ok. Then is says claiming server. Then it says Fatal error happened. Then it says HTTP returned Status 401. So I took a chance and launched a Plex instance in my browser. The server comes up with all my content. It says it found an unclaimed server, but I’m afraid to touch anything at this point.
hmm, that seems the same as a problem I was trying to help with here:
So I think you probably still have some network issues on your nas
I’ll keep digging. I have set up external access to my NAS and provided the pertinent information to Synology so hopefully they will be able to access the NAS and review the settings and get me onto the right path.
Again, thanks for your help. I’ll post when I get a response from Synology.
401
is most likely due to server already claimed

Thank you for this link. Following it led me to remove some entries in the Preferences.xml file. Once they were removed, and I restarted the server and launched a local version of the app, the app informed me that it had located an unclaimed library. I simply clicked on the “claim” link and everything fell into place. Thank you!
I’m having the same issue with connecting to plex.tv and have Frontier Fios. Can you let me know what your solution was?
He followed my link, and ended up at support.plex.tv to an article, that told him to edit his preferences.xml
file, AFTER making a backup of it.
So follow the link
