One day my plex server just stop seeing its libraries. I am running the server on a desktop that I use from time to time for other things. all the media folders are local on that machine, the same machine that have the server. So its really strange that it was work all along then one day it stop seeing the folders in the library. I check the library and it is still set up with the correct folders but in plex its says An unexpected error occurred, How do I fix this.
„an unexpected error“ could have a number of causes. It’s usually not related to Plex no longer being able to see your media files.
Do you experience this error on specific or all clients/players? If it’s with specific players… which ones (platform and version)?
yes on all players. I tried them all. but the main ones are on my Samsung TV (tizen) and the other on my Roku tv
Did you recently add/remove/recreate the Windows user account on that machine?
Verify that the Plex data folder is still populated in its default location.
Have ever moved the Plex data folder away from its default location? Where to?
No New users. they are still in the same locations, I tried deleting the libraries and re added them. I never moved the folders.
Being able to do that, seems to indicate that you still have access to the server in general.
Could you show a screenshot of what you mean by “has no longer access to the libraries”?
I’m having the same issues I have to reinstall the Plex server version every time this happens to fix the problem. I don’t understand why this is happening, this just started when I updated to the newer version which I show there hasn’t been a newer version since March 14, 2024. The version I have is 1.40.1.8227. Can we please fix this?
Well I feel better that this is happening to someone else. Are there any other suggestions coming from plex staff? Are there no other ideas? How do you roll back a upgrade with Plex?
