Plex Server not adding content that has been added to library (Music Videos)

I am currently unable to get my Plex Server (Mac OS) to show newly added music videos to that library. This just started happening, as I was adding new content constantly but it just stopped recognizing new content.

I refreshed the metadata in the library, scanned the library manually and tried to update the Global Path for all music videos. I even copied that entire library over a new volume and added that volume’s folder to the library. The new volume or the folder’s contents showed up after the scan.

Any ideas on what’s going on? What is the proper pathway designation for the Global Path for Music Videos under the extras tab in settings?:

So previous music videos you added are still visible but newly added music videos don’t appear?

What Plex Player are you using?

For your Mac PMS Global Music Video path, you can use one of these formats.

/Users/nibbles/Downloads/data/GlobalMusicVids
or
/Volumes/Macintosh HD/Users/nibbles/Downloads/data/GlobalMusicVids
or
/Volumes/sharename/GlobalMusicFolderName

When you use a Global Music Video folder, the video shows up as an Extra when you click the Artist name to see all their albums.

But when you embed the music video in the album folder next to the audio track, the video appears both on the Artist page as an extra and in the album track listing next to the audio track.

This works on Plex for Mac, the hosted web app, and AppleTV, but not iOS because they updated the app and removed music.

Yes, the previously added music videos are visible and playable, but the new ones (post 10/27/25) are not showing up on the player. I even erased the entire library and added them back agian, including the new vids. Same issue as before.

I am using Plex for Mac, vers. 1.110.0.351-4e48eb83.

My library uses its own volume.

What does “nibbles” mean in the above-listed pathway suggestions?

nibbles is my username on my Mac.

I would suggest looking for database corruption. If your PMS is set to debug,

PMS.Debug

then restart your PMS server, use your Plex for Mac Settings → Troubleshooting → Download logs to grab them.

  1. Next drill into the zip file it drops in your Downloads.
  2. Drill into the extracted folder of the same name.
  3. Open the file Plex Media Server.log and search for Malformed or Corrupt.

Let us know if you find that or not.
I wouldn’t know off the top of my head another reason music vids don’t appear.
But we can investigate further if needed through the logging system.
